The New Ipad Tablet Computer - A Quick review
By edy4sure
Yes folks the new ipad tablet, the very much anticipated gadget with it's touch screen monitor looks like according to Rory Cellan-Jones, Technology Correspondent of the BBC, a large remake of the iPhone, (which Like the iphone) or according to the timesonline report, "... it's like an iphone on steriods". It can be used to watch films, compile and store photos and browse the world wide web. This device has been unveiled by none other than Steve Job, the 'top dog' at Apple during an event in San Francisco, USA.

This also comes with synchronization of the applications between the two touch screen devices (ipod & ipad) between the two devices.
The cheapest iPad, with a 16GB of flash memory and wi-fi will cost $499. The most expensive ipad, with 64GB of storage and the ability to connect via a mobile 3G signal, will set you back about $829
THE PEOPLE'S COMMENTS SO FAR
Speculation about the capabilities of it's touch screen monitor and other things, have made this device to be one of the most hyped up and talked about gadget of 2009. Now that it has come see the a few of the commentaries about the product:
"OMG, looks like the iphone has been eating too much mcdonalds, fat..."
"Ipad sounds like a sanitry towel lol"
"Seriously? They went with "iPad"? "So tell me, Mr Jobs - how absorbent is this "iPad?" Perhaps the deluxe version will be the "MaxiPad". It's made to collect the incontinent emissions of early adopters and the gullible."
"Iphone under a magnifytng glass :) "
"Looks like a giant itouch to me. =P "
"WOW A BIG IPHONE "
"They should have called this iPod Macro. "
"Naaah, it's no good this time, i'm sorry Steve. The exact same features packed in a larger package, and almost nothing more. definately nothing cacthy... And all those big, hype words to describe that thing we alreadyy knew... "phenomenal", "unbelievable" ... Come on, gimme a break... You should've put in new features into the presentaation, like augmented reality applications...
On top of all, it does not support multi-tasking, what could be worse?? "
"How is this like a macbook in any way? This is an Itouch + a bigger screen. Way lower than where my expectations were at. Only plus is the price is somewhat low. I might consider buying an apple product in the future similar to this with multitasking, camera/video, flash and new OS that is closer to Snow Leopard. Nice try but try harder."
"this is cool for watching movies "
"
I wouldnt buy this at all because if you want this as a replacement for your phone its too big too carry around and if it has to be a replacement for your laptop then i wouldnt be able to use it because you cant see what you type on a light reflecting flat surface. It probably can't print off from there either. So im sorry but no, its either a cell phone or a small thin lightweight laptop that people will use, not this IPAD."
"This epic failure just gave Microsoft the opening it needs to catch up to Apple. Steve you completely misread what people were looking for."
"oh yeah... they have been talking about it for over 5 years... and where is it? Plus, if it's running Windows, I'd rather get a lobotomy. It's less painful, thanks.".
"Having been looking at a lot of the hype floating around the internet, it was clearly going to be billed as a market-changer. It will be interesting to get more details on the functionality and power before jumping headlong into buying one, but fingers crossed it will be a good product!".
As a business tool, analysts have critiqued that it lack security and manageabilty features for business. Especially if the device were to be used remotedly.
Others were quick to say that these were just 'teething problems' that will be eliminated with application developements and product updates.
INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT THE IPAD
The most interesting aspect of the launch, is also, the launch of iBooks, the online book store with which Apple is hoping to revolutionise publishing world just as iTunes transformed the music industry (and Avatar changed the movies), says, Rory Cellan-Jones.
It doesn't require the use of Adobe flashplayer to play media, which is another unique thing about this touch screen. And there will a rush by developers to make ipad applications that will turn people into multi-millionaires overnight.
Another key selling point to be of future note is, the developement of apps and extended versions of ipod games apps will be a major focus. So also will be the use of touch screen in larger screens as means of playing games without the use of a game pad.
And for would be ipad application or touch screen developers, the apple ipad software developement kit 3.2 has been unvieled, and can be downloaded from here: Apple iPad SDK 3.2
The ipad has indeed arrived. Will it stay or wilt away? Or will it stand out like other Apple products, that were instant hits or slow and steady success stories? Will make a place for itself in the anals of IT history and revolution like the itouch, macbook, iphone, and the ipod did? Well your imagination is as good as mine... we'll have to wait and see.
